Under Foot: Non-slip surfaces are just as important indoors
Carpet is a good flooring choice in office spaces. It is non-slip, and dampens sound as people move around the space. Ensure that carpeting is low pile as this is easier for people using wheeled devices including trolleys and wheelchairs.
When it’s raining, indoor spaces with access to the outdoors tend to become slippery. This space uses a non-slip rubberlike flooring to minimise this problem.
Wooden flooring is a great option for indoor surfaces, however it can be slippery when wet. Smooth floor materials like wood need to have an appropriate slip resistant coating.
